In 1972 the Māori Language Petition was presented on the steps of Parliament. This marked an important error in the history of Māoridom and became the catalyst to many kaupapa Māori such as Kohanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa, Whare Wānanga and Māori having their own radio stations and TV channel.
Now on the 50th anniversary of the Māori language petition, this documentary unpacks the history of te reo Māori in Aotearoa, from its dominance to its gradual decline and the modern day revitalisation efforts.
